The barrier for entry into construction...REALLY isn't that hard!It is an easy hurtle to jump. Here is an example...This lady, (who happens to be my girlfriend) moved to Montana a few years ago to move away from home (Minnesota) and get some life experience. She thought to herself "what am i going to do for work?" as most people would think about when moving to a different state. She figured it would be fun to try construction, as she likes building things, working with her hands and being outdoors and being active. So what did she do? She simply called the biggest construction company in the area, asked & told them......"how can I get started working for you guys as a laborer, I don't have any construction experience, I am only 19 but I want to work in construction." They basically hired her on the spot, over the phone...they said "come in for an interview" which she did, then they legit hired her on the spot, told her to start tomorrow at 7am! Every blue collar trade out there needs helpers, groundman, laborers, whatever...They just need people & hands. If you're worthless, they'll probably let you go...But if you show some soft and hard skills, your opportunity to work and build a career out of nothing is very achievable! It is really as easy as either calling or showing up at the office or job site. #bluecollar #education #career #construction

October is Careers in Construction month, and we are continuing to share what our crews do to raise awareness of construction careers. A mason tender, often referred to simply as a "tender," plays a crucial role in the field of masonry construction. Their primary responsibility is to support and assist masons (bricklayers or stonemasons) in various tasks, ensuring that the masons can work efficiently and safely. Here are some key aspects of a mason tender's job:Material Handling: Mason tenders are responsible for supplying masons with the necessary materials and tools. This includes transporting bricks, concrete blocks, mortar, and other construction materials to the worksite. They must ensure that the masons have a constant and adequate supply of materials to keep their work uninterrupted.Mixing Mortar: Tenders often prepare mortar mixes by blending sand, cement, and water, which masons use for setting bricks or stones. They must follow specific mixing ratios and guidelines to ensure the quality of the mortar.Cleaning and Maintenance: Tenders help maintain a clean and organized work area. They clean up excess mortar, debris, and waste materials. Additionally, they may assist in cleaning and maintaining masonry tools and equipment.Providing Assistance: Depending on the project's requirements, mason tenders may assist masons in various ways, such as handing them bricks or stones, holding plumb lines, or helping position and align building materials.Safety: Mason tenders must prioritize safety on the job site. They help ensure that masons and other workers are following safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.A mason tender is a crucial support role in the construction industry, assisting masons in various tasks to ensure the efficient and safe completion of masonry projects. They contribute to the overall quality and productivity of the construction process by providing the necessary materials and assistance to masons.Shout out to all the tenders who work hard to make our projects a success - we appreciate you! 👊🧱#Mason #MasonTenders #CICM #CareersinConstructionMonth #MasonryStrong

Choosing the right masonry company to work for can be a pivotal decision for your project. To make an informed choice, it's essential to consider several key factors.1️⃣ Investigate the company's reputation within the industry and its standing in the community. You can gather insights by checking with trade organizations and learn who the members are. They can provide valuable information about the company's business practices as well as their dedication and commitment to continually supporting the trade itself.2️⃣ Second, evaluate the company's commitment to employee development and safety. A company that invests in training and certification for its workers is one that values high-quality craftsmanship. Safety is another critical aspect; ensure the company has a strong safety record and adheres to industry standards to protect its workers. This will help to avoid issues during the length of the job. 3️⃣ Lastly, consider the company's portfolio of projects. Hiring a company that undertakes jobs similarly aligned to your project's vision is incredibly important. Located in Arizona? Hire Sargon Masonry and Sargon Steel for your next project. You won't be seeing any snow plows on our trucks this winter, and here's why; we are a design, procure, and build company. We know where our strengths lie and how our teams skills are best used. Our philosophy is to hire team members that are experts in our field, which is landscaping, not snow removal. So what will we be doing this winter? Our team is hard at work designing projects to be installed this landscaping season. There are also a few commercial properties we are working on when weather permits. Any time that is not spent designing and installing is being used to source material for the projects we have slated, get started on any permits needed for projects and planning how to have a successful year! Comment how your team is spending their time during these snowy days!
